Our History
Phoenix Learning & Care is a well-established care organisation providing small, residential homes, registered schools and colleges for a wide variety of young people, 8 to 18+ years from centres across Devon…
Quality Food
We are very proud of the fact that we have built a bridge of friendship and mutual respect with Mr Andrew Dixon, a very well known and respected chef whose restaurant ‘Andrew’s on the Weir’ at Porlock, is one of only two in Devon to have been awarded the status of three AA rosettes.
Andrew began working with local schools to improve the quality of their school meals a full two years before Jamie Oliver took up the gauntlet. andrew has designed all our menu’s to cover all the food groups and to combine to make a complete healthy diet.
Our food is predominently organically sourced including the meat which can be traced to specific Devon farms. Fruit and vegetables are bought fresh each week and the young people are encouraged to drink juices and smoothies rather than processed drinks and to eat fresh fruit and vegetables instead of sweets and crisps.
Andrew has worked with the staff team to ensure that they are competent cooks and will even spend time with the young people who show an interest in cooking food properly – his breads and cakes are superb!
